FUEL FEEDING SYSTEM KEM designs and manufactures fuel feeding systems for various kinds of biomass, ranging from chain conveyors for wood chips to feeders for straw bales. All systems follows the same basic rules: - Hydraulic drive systems for minimized power consumption, low speeds and reduced wearing. - Expanding entry area for avoiding build-up of fuel. - Avoid pre-treatment of the fuel (crushing, sepa-ration...) - Measuring of the mass flow (kg/min) - avoids variations in input energy due to changing densities of the fuel. All feeding systems are equipped with two separate gates for secure feeding of the fuel and for preventing inlet of uncontrolled air to the combustion. A third gate is installed directly above the grate inlet and will only close in case the under pressure in the furnace is too low, or the temperature inside the feeding system gets too high. The fuel feeding system is designed to weigh the amount of fuel being led to the grate. The system is adaptive meaning that changes to the fuel characteristics, will automatically change the fuel flow. The gate is connected to the main boiler control system and ensures that the correct amount of fuel is being led to the grate. In connection with the mechanical grate, the air supply system and the boiler, the fuel feeding system helps achieve stabilized steam output conditions, higher efficiency and reduced emission levels. The following advantages are achieved: - Flexibility towards fuel sizes - Flexibility towards changing fuel charactaristics - Stabilized steam output through mass feeding control - Improved fuel efficiency - Backfire prevention
